SPINACH RECIPES

Spinach Pakoda


Ingredients:

  • 1 cup Palak (Spinach).
  • 1/2 cup onion (optional).
  • 1/2 cup gram flour.
  • 2 tsp rice flour.
  • 3 tsp rava/sooji .
  • 4 Green Chillies.
  • 1 tbsp ajwain.
  • 1 tbsp cumin seeds.
  • Salt to taste.
  • Oil to fry.

    Preparation:

    Wash Spinach leaves and cut them into medium size pieces. cut the onions into small strips.

    Mix all the dry ingridients first (besan,rice flour,sooji,cumin seeds,ajwain ,salt).

    Now add spinach,onion,green chillies and water to it and make smooth batter.

    Add 1 tsp hot oil to the batter and mix it well.

    Fry these palak pakoda's in hot oil till golden brown color.

    Serve hot with TEA.

    Spinach Sandwich


    Ingredients:

  • 5 Cloves Garlic, roasted.
  • 1 tsp Dijon Mustard.
  • 4 tsp mayonnaise .
  • Italian bread,sliced and toasted .
  • 1/2 cup of sliced Tomato.
  • 1/2 cup of sliced onion.
  • Olive oil.
  • 6 oz spinach .
  • 1/2 cup of roasted red pepper.
  • salt to taste.
  • pepper powder .

    Preparation:

    Combine Garlic, Mustard and Mayonnaise, and Purie. For each sandwich, spread the purie on one side of two slices of toast.

    Grill Tomato,Onion and red pepper with olive oil, adding salt and pepper powder.

    Place onion and tomato on the bottom piece of toast and top with spinach and red pepper. Cover with the top half of toast and cut in half.

    Spinach Dosa


    Ingredients:

  • 1 cup wheat flour .
  • 1 cup Rice flour .
  • 1 cup Maida flour .
  • 1 cup Besan flour .
  • 1 cup Rava/Sooji .
  • 1 cup blanched Palak/spinach .
  • 5 Green chillies.
  • small piece Ginger.
  • 1 tsp jeera.
  • Salt to taste .
  • Water for mixing .
  • Oil for making dosas .

    Preparation:

    Take all the dry ingredients into a bowl, pour little water and make a fine batter for dosa.

    Grind blanched spinach,green chillies,jeera and ginger.

    Heat dosa pan and spray oil.

    Pour some batter and spread it like circular shape dosa.

    Spray a few drops of oil, if needed and cook until golden brown.

    Turn side and cook for some time.

    Spinach Rice


    Ingredients:

  • 1 cup of Washed Palak .
  • 5 Leaves of Pudina.
  • 2 cups of Rice.
  • 2 Cloves of Garlic.
  • 3 Green Chillies.
  • 1 tsp Oil.
  • 1 Lime/Lemon.
  • Salt to taste.

    Preparation:

    Blanch palak and grind it to paste with pudiana leaves,green chillies,garlic, jeera.

    Cook rice in the cooker with few drops of lime juice and keep it aside.

    In a pan add a tsp of oil.

    When the oil gets heated Add grinded paste and cook for 10 minutes.

    Add salt lime juice and cook for few more minutes.

    Mix this paste with rice to coat very well.

    Moong Spinach Curry


    Ingredients:

  • 1/2 cup Moong.
  • 1 Bunch of chopped Palak(Spinach).
  • Tamarind pulp.
  • 1 Clove Garlic.
  • 1 Medium sized Onion.
  • Fresh Cococnut.
  • Green chillies.
  • Salt to taste.

    Preparation:

    Pressure cook whole moong and palak for 2 whistles.

    Grind coconut,garlic,chillies and make paste.

    Saute the onions in a pan with lttle bit of oil and jeera.

    Add the grinded paste and tamarind pulp , cook it for 5 minutes.

    Now add the pressure cooked moong and palak and boil till everything gets mixed well.

    Add salt to taste.

    Serve it with Chapati or Rice.

    Sauted Spinach


    Ingredients:

  • 1 Cup of Washed Palak .
  • 1 Clove of Garlic.
  • 1 Medium sized Onion.
  • 2 Green Chillies (chopped).
  • 1 tsp Oil.
  • 1/2 tsp Jeera.
  • 1/2 tsp Mustard seeds.
  • Salt to taste.

    Preparation:

    Wash Spinach leaves and cut them into medium size pieces. cut the onions into small strips.

    In a pan add a tsp of oil.

    When the oil gets heated, add Jeera, Mustard seeds ,Onion ,chillies and saute it till golden brown color.

    Add spinach leaves to it and mix them well.

    Add salt to taste and cook for 3 to 4 minutes.

    Serve Sauted Spinach with rice as a side dish.

    Chole Spinach Curry


    Ingredients:

  • 1 Cup of Washed Palak .
  • 5 Leaves of Pudina.
  • 1/2 cup of Chole.
  • 2 Cloves of Garlic.
  • 1 tsp Chole masala powder.
  • 1 Medium sized Onion.
  • 3 Green Chillies.
  • 1 tsp Oil.
  • 1/2 tsp Jeera.
  • 1 Lime/Lemon.
  • Salt to taste.

    Preparation:

    Blanch Palak and grind it to paste with pudiana leaves,green chillies,garlic, jeera.

    Soak chole overnight and pressure cook it for 2 whistles.

    In a pan add a tsp of oil.

    When the oil gets heated add onion and saute it till golden brown color.

    Add grinded paste and cook for 10 minutes.

    Add pressure cooked chole and salt to it.

    Add lime juice and cook for few more minutes.

    Serve Chole Spinach Curry with hot chapatis.
